As reported by XXL, on June 12th, Shreveport's local news station KTAL disclosed an ambitious plan involving 50 Cent and his G-Unit team, who are allegedly in the process of acquiring "two dozen" properties in downtown Shreveport, Louisiana. Gerod Durden, a local real estate broker collaborating closely with the Power mogul, emphasized 50 Cent's unwavering commitment to revitalizing the downtown area, stating that he was "passionate" about restoring vibrancy to the community.
"We're considering establishing a grocery store within the immediate downtown Shreveport area," Durden revealed to the news outlet. "These are concepts that we've collectively brainstormed with the entire team, focused on identifying initiatives that can benefit the community."
Reportedly, 50 Cent's revitalization plan comprises three distinct phases. The first phase involves the revitalization of the area, encompassing the acquisition of numerous properties, abandoned lots, and vacant buildings.
The subsequent phase focuses on housing initiatives, aiming to convert a significant portion of the acquired properties into affordable housing for lower-income families. The final phase entails implementing programs for children to ensure their safety and engagement within the local community.
"We have a vision to enter communities and assist low to moderate income families in obtaining mortgages," disclosed G-Unit's growth advisor, Orville Hall. "Our plan involves visiting each high school and establishing an immediate program aimed at providing training and mentorship. We intend to implement a wide range of initiatives to place young people within a positive environment."
During a separate broadcast on local news outlet KSLA12, Shreveport's Mayor Tom Arceneaux expressed unequivocal support for 50 Cent's endeavor, affirming that the music mogul has a "keen interest" in downtown Shreveport and is genuinely dedicated to its transformation.
50 Cent responded to both broadcasts on his Instagram, confidently stating, "Betting on me is not a gamble, it’s a sure thing. Shreveport is up next."
50 Cent's interest in Shreveport dates back to May, when he quietly procured and unveiled his G-Unit Films and Television Studio in the city. Prior to publicizing this new venture, local news station KSLA12 reported last December that the city council had greenlighted 50 Cent's lease of the Millennium Studio for his new company. Reportedly, 50 Cent is leasing the city-owned building for a mere $2,400 annually.
