As reported by Complex, on May 15th, Marvel released a new DOOM comic, marking the first publication since the passing of influential rapper MF DOOM in 2020. The comic, created by Jonathan Hickman and Sanford Greene, begins with a tribute to MF DOOM, featuring lyrics from his song "Accordion": "Living on borrowed time/The clock ticks faster…"

According to NME, the previous issue of a DOOM comic, centered around the supervillain and nemesis of the Fantastic Four, was released back in 2000. MF DOOM, known for his fondness for the character, often wore a mask inspired by Doctor Doom during his performances.

MF DOOM, who passed away on October 31, 2020 at the age of 49, had his death announced by his wife Jasmine Dumile on DOOM's Instagram in December. In her announcement, she expressed, "The greatest husband, father, teacher, student, business partner, lover and friend I could ever ask for. Thank you for all the things you have shown, taught and given to me, our children and our family."

Jasmine Dumile later confirmed that MF DOOM's death was due to a "rare" allergic reaction to his blood pressure medication.
