The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill 25th Anniversary Tour Announced

Twenty-five years ago one of the greatest musical creations of all time was crafted by a young woman from Newark, New Jersey. This young woman would make history with this musical expression of her first memories of love, childhood, motherhood and womanhood. The backdrop of the album would be a classroom in the city of Newark, New Jersey and Lauryn Hill's life lessons and experiences would serve as a melodious tour guide through a musical journey.

She is now returning to revisit the album that yielded her five Grammys and made her the first woman to win five Grammys in one night.

Along with this accomplishment came another monumental/historical feat for Lauryn. Her first solo album, The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill, became the first ever Hip-Hop album to win a Grammy for Album Of The Year.

Lauryn is now returning to the stage to share with audiences what some experienced live twenty-five years ago, others sorely missed, and some were not yet born to see.

According to a report from Variety via Blavity, Ms. Lauryn Hill has announced that she will go on tour to celebrate her groundbreaking debut solo album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. The tour has 17 dates and spans across major North American cities, including scheduled stops in Australia and New Zealand.

After unexpectedly cutting short their 25th-anniversary tour of The Score in 2021, The Fugees will reunite on all U.S. and Canadian dates and open the show.

As the outlet mentioned, known for its nearly flawless meshing of R&B, hip-hop and pop, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill is one of the most impactful records of the 1990s. In addition to its Grammy wins and

record making Grammy accomplishments,

in 2015 the album was placed in the Library of Congress.

Variety reported Hill said, “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill is and was a love song to my parents, my family, my people, my musical and cultural forebears, my teachers, my loves, my Creator. I wrote love songs and protest songs — (still love songs) about the subjects and interests that inspired and moved me. I was confident that what inspired me would resonate with an audience that had been led to believe that songs of that kind could only live in the past.

“I loved music, I loved people, I truly felt grateful to God for my life, and genuinely blessed to have a platform where I could share wisdom and perspective through music,” she added. “I felt a charge to challenge the idea that certain kinds of expression and/or certain kinds of people didn’t belong in certain places. I loved showing what could work or happen provided there was imagination, creativity and LOVE leading the way.”

Public tour tickets go on sale Friday, August 25th and will also be available on resale sites such as StubHub, Ticketmaster and Vivid Seats.
